* Describe your first student teaching context (school setting). What school are you at, what are some of its characteristics, and what classes are you teaching, and how are classes scheduled at your school?
I am Currently at Westerly Middle school. The Building itself is gorgeous, built withtin the last five or so years and desighned to fit the middle school model perfectly. As a whole the school seems supportive of its staff and most importnatly students. Each team has its own 'pod' this pod housese all the students lockers, student bathrooms, common space with computers, the four homerooms/content, a room for the special educator as well as one special (elective teacher). Students are able to feel safe and experiance multiple teachers without having to roam far from home, teachers are able to constantly observe and monitor there students and get to know them very well. Each pod also has team storage and a common planning room. I will be teaching all four of my CT's 6th grade science classes, focusing on magnets and motors. Classes here are taught the way I feel they should be. A comfortable helping of hands on activity and inquiry bases science with groundig as needed. The team really functions as a team and the students are well aware of this.
* Explain one of your "stealth" objectives that you want to accomplish with your students and why.
One of my stealth objectives is to motivate to students to enjoy science, specifically I want to show them that science answers questions and doesnt take no for an answer. Most kids of this age are naturally curious, and to me that is what science is all about. In the science world if you keep trying you will figure it out. Science doesnt quite if they dont get it right away, just like they shouldnt. I want all of the students to be well aware they science answers questions, and that they can use science and scientific thinking to answer questions and solve problems in there own life.
